Haha yeah right in my dreams. Real reason? 'Cause ears smell. Remember those younger times when your mum always nagged at ya to wash behind your ears? 'Cause they smell real bad. Haven't shower? Try rubbing your finger behind your ear and then smelling it. It won't be nice, trust me :)

Vintage Mobile Phones: Who's Still Using Them?

Noone except me, I think. Not even those Blangahdeshi/Indian construction workers.

Apologies for the lack of updates, I had a crazy and horrible week. On top of that, my LG phone broke down on me. First, my car tyre. Now, my phone. Sob!

Really sorry if I haven't been replying to emails or comments or queries, thousand apologies! I will try my best to reply them all today.

Anyways back to the topic of my phone, my LG Viewty's touchscreen conked out. Refused to work...


... so I finally sent the phone to the service centre yesterday, and they told me I have to leave it there for at least 3 working days. Luckily it was still on warranty.

Meanwhile, had to look for an alternative... 'cause I need to use a phone for work.

None of my friends or colleagues have a spare phone, thus I had to borrow my Mum's. It's a Samsung clamshell phone. Really savvy. I don't know the model though. Anyone care to help me with that?

I brought the phone to work and became the butt of all jokes.

"How many pixels camera, Ying?"

"Bluetooth your ringtone to me!" (The ringtone by the way, is worse than a pager's)

"Erm... Ying, why ya bring a toy to work?"

"Wah lau eh... Drive car so big, then no money buy phone!"

"Can you SMS with that??" (Yes, I actually can.)

"If ya hold the phone sideways, people might think it's a new model..."

"Is that an antenna for GPS?"

"Is that a stylus?" (While pointing to the antenna.)

Jokes aside, old phones are damn sturdy lah. Drop them, dump them around, abuse them, sit on them, and they still survive til today. My LG Viewty? I only dropped it once but it's on a carpeted floor, I have never sat on it, I kept it in a phone pouch, gave it all my TLC, and it still conked out on me in less than a year.

But then again, SMS-ing with this phone is a HUGE pain in the ass. Now I have an excuse for not replying SMSes. Hehe.

After this incident I wanna change phone already!

45 Bucks Poorer

Had an eventful night. Just came back earlier in the morning from my night shift after changing my flat tyre to a second hand $45 tyre.

The hole is damn big lar. I forgot to take a picture, but I "borrowed" someone's picture of a flat tyre on Flickr to show where the hole is..


Why is the hole at the side???? I didn't strike or mount any kerbs I swear. Did somebody poke me?? Super sad the whole night while I was at work :( The hole is so big that when I placed my hand on the leak, the air coming out felt like a minature HAND DRYER. I'm not bluffing. Ya could even hear the sound going, "PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS...." like a few metres away. I swear!

Gah! I drove super duper slowly to the nearest car workshop after my night shift this morning(nope I have no spare tyre, long story) and got scolded by the shop owner uncle before getting my tyre changed.

It went something like this:

ME : Uncle can repair not?

UNCLE : Whoa at the side ah! Cannot. Must change already. Cannot repair one. Confirm this one you knock one. (Upon hearing this I was abit irritated 'cause I swear I didn't strike any damn kerb. And I quite ego also haha.)

SKEPTICAL ME: I never knock lah uncle... Huh? Really? Cannot repair? How come cannot repair? I thought can repair :( (sad $$ fly away)

ANGRY UNCLE : Whether you knock one that's not the point isn't it? (Grrr then don't say I knock one lah) Tell you cannot means cannot lah! Still ask me why for what? Tell you cannot already. You people nowadays, no respect for old people like me. I work 40 years in this job, then young people like you come into my shop and start questioning me.

He went on to nag me loudly non-stop for like 5 mins. Too bad I had a flat tyre, if not I would have drove off hahaha. Getting nagged by a middle-aged man after a long night shift on top of worrying for my car is really quite intolerable. Lol.

After sweet talking to him he somewhat calmed down. Sold me a second hand Maxxis MA-T1 tyre. Made in Taiwan. Well will do for now. I had no other choice :/ Uncle also went on to tell me later(when he was in a calmer mood) why he can't fix the leak at the side. The tyre will spilt at the area of the tear. Ohhhhh. Now I know.

45 bucks poorer. How to save for Hong Kong trip with incidents like this? Haha. I know what you must be thinking, wah lao, can drive car no money buy new tyre, sure or not?

I always think that car drivers are the poorest people around. Don't talk about Ferrari car owners or racecar owners who live in 3 storey bungalows. I'm talking about commonfolk car owners in general, like me. Haha.

My colleagues always go, "Wah, Ying so rich lor, can drive car." I am poor lor. Road tax, ERP, season parking, petrol, servicing, car accessories, flat tyres now... How the hell can I be rich after emptying my pockets for all that??

You know who I think are the richest people? SINGLE guys who:

1) Don't drink;
2) Don't smoke;
3) Don't gamble;
4) Don't really go out much;
5) Don't club;
6) Don't own a car
7) Don't travel overseas much...

THOSE are the rich guys.

They keep their pool of money til one day they meet someone they like and then marry and then bam! There goes the money, lol. Marriage, car, house, children.. Think about it. No girlfriends to suck their money. Yes, ladies. Those decent bachelors are RICH. Marry them! They spend their hard earned money on nothing much, maybe a few decent hobbies or harmless Toto or 4D gambling.

Me? I'm just a poor little girl who is in love with her car and am too spoilt now to take public transport. And I hate cabbies.

I know, nice hair right. My colleague transferred this song via Bluetooth to my phone last night. I love this song. I love love love that the vocalist can hit all those high impossible notes.

Reminded me of those times I caught this Filipino band playing in this pub in town. Every single time they play they will do a cover of this song and the vocalist sounded EXACTLY the same as Michael Matijevic in Steelheart. Sigh. This is what I call a good live band. Really miss listening to them! It's just too bad they don't play there anymore :(

Best Day of My Week

Ever had a really really busy week working or studying, having meetings, rushing around on assignments, running errands, etc.. that ya hardly ever had time for yourself, and all ya wanted is a day all to yourself bumming at home, locked in your room, doing all the anti-social things that ya like?

Well, today is one of those anti-social days. And I lurve it. *Contented sigh*

Been having a busy week with night shifts and day shifts with only 1 off day. On top of really crappy stuff at work including shitty pre-audit preparations. And today (well, technically yesterday, it's almost 2am now) was spent just watching HIMYM season 2 (hilarious by the way, really love Barney but shall talk about that another day), eating lots of junk food, making myself a bowl of really sinful instant noodles, watching a little TV, reading a few random blogs... and checking out some HATS online!

I liked wearing hats since young.. owned 3 hats like this:


Fashion disaster? Lol. Stopped wearing them when I was in poly, I think.

Anyways, I'm really falling in love with them hats again!

Told myself to get one (or a few) when I go Hong Kong this October. Hopefully I will find something I like! And if time (and money) permits, I might bring back some nice stuff to share on thesnappydresser ;)

1. I always tell new people that I meet that I'm only 18 years old.

2. Sometimes I wish I am only 18 years old.

3. I love bags and shoes. Don't all girls?

4. My fave number is 4. It is also my basketball jersey number in secondary school.

5. I like watching TV but I hate watching it at home. Especially with my parents.

6. I think guys who can dance or sing in falsetto are darn sexy.

7. I occasionally fantasise about working part time as a waitress in a pub and playing in a band. No full time job and with minimal amount of money. Stay in a rented apartment with friends, get trashed, sleep late. No bills, no worries! Alas, but it's only a fantasy.

8. I love singing out loud when I'm alone.

9. I think I am too rough to wear a skirt. I woke up one day thinking to myself that maybe I should start wearing skirts out more often.

10. 10 years ago, I wouldn't be caught dead outside wearing a skirt.

11. I don't like gambling.

12. I really hate the cashless society Singapore is becoming. I HATE credit cards, Cashcards, GIRO, EZlink card, ERP, carpark with Cashcard gantries... where the hell is my money.

Why I Sometimes Think That Guys Are Disgusting

I was walking around my workplace one sleepless night shift when I saw this hanging outside an aircon vent:

Been sick the past few days, have not been updating my blog or my blogshop, sleeping and eating alot. No idea why I tend to be more hungry when I'm sick? Is it due to the medication?

What's worse is that my flu virus is also accompanied with diarrhoea :( Tendency to eat alot when I'm sick and then followed with diarrhoea. Sob. How sad can that be haha.

Anyways, if everything goes well and I feel better with no more stomachaches, new clothes should be up soon at thesnappydresser, hopefully, by today! Check back! :)

Hamburger

Nope, this is not a post about food. Lol. I will go further into details later.

I feel really sick and drowsy right now. Took MC earlier, was supposed to go for a course early today but decided I am not in the mood to travel to the other end of Singapore for a 4 hour course that I can learn from my colleagues anyway. Might as well stay at home and blog right? Haha!

But seriously, I already forced and dragged myself to Simei yesterday for my Thai lesson. For the whole 1.5 hours I was busy blowing my nose and barely concentrating on what my teacher was teaching. So logically speaking, will waking up at 7am, followed by dragging myself all the way to Jalan Bahar to sit through a boring 4 hour talk, feel any better than yesterday's 1.5 hour of lesson that I actually enjoy going for? I seriously doubt it. Might as well take MC. I have another long day shift tomorrow. I think. Or am I working night shift instead? Now I'm confused.

Anyways, back to why I named this post Hamburger. Met one of my friends after lesson yesterday for a late dinner. Decided to eat at Serangoon. And since it's so near Mustafa, might as well take a walk right? Lol. Yeah, I know I'm sick, but even then I cannot pass up the chance to shop there. It's Mustafa! They have EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING except maybe cable ties haha. A friend tried looking for those once and the staff told him they don't carry cable ties, I guess for obvious reasons hehe. Well, still, I love going there. So many things to see (and buy, unfortunately).

Okay okay coming back to why I named this post Hamburger. I was aiming this X-mini speaker for some time already, 'cause my laptop speakers were driving me crazy. Hated those in-built speakers that came with my laptop. While walking through the Audio section my friend and I came across this that looked the same like the X-mini:

I already read good reviews about the X-mini, but I was still skeptical about the extremely small speaker size. After spending a long time contemplating, we decided to ask the salesperson to let us try out the Hamburger speaker.

Damn small right

It's damn good lar! The sound that came out of that small little thing was amazing. It owned my silly laptop speakers hands down. I promptly decided to buy it regardless whether it was a rip off from the X-mini or whether the X-mini was rip off from the Hamburger. I don't care. It sounded amazingly good for a small $29 speaker. Although I haven't heard how the X-mini would sound like, I seriously don't think there would be much difference. And no, I'm not doing an advetorial either. Heh.

I also bought a nice new red and black mouse :)

Tired of my fingers cramping everytime after playing COD 4. Was using the free laptop small mini mouse since I bought my laptop, finally got around buying a new nice big mouse to fit my fingers hehe. What I love about this mouse? No blinding laser beam! The lens is actually invisible. No irritating red light, I love it :) Another thing why I love it? The packaging says 500-1500 dpi. I guess that should be fairly adequate for me to play my online games ;p Saved some cash by buying this $18 mouse instead of a Razer mouse :))) Again, I am not doing an advertorial, just my honest opinion!

Okay I'm gonna lie down now, I feel really light-headed. Gonna spend my remaining off day sleeping, breaking in my new Hamburger speaker and testing my new mouse with COD 4. After nearing the end of this post I also realised I'm may be flamed by ALL X-mini and Razer mouse fans. Oops. No offence, people!

Guitar Hero

Just came back from chalet yesterday evening. Immediately showered and rushed out for my night shift, came back this morning, and slept til now. Another night shift tonight. I'm sick :( Sore throat and runny nose. Too much BBQ food, probably.

The BBQ wings turned out ok in the end, but I think I should've been more generous with the BBQ sauce. Didn't find it flavourful enough.

They are simply orgasmic. Extremely delicious! I didn't eat much of the own wings that I marinated, but I ate these orgasmic sotongs the most. I have no other way to describe them except for being orgasmic. Why I say they are orgasmic:

Bite into one and the filling inside just oozes out. Just thinking about it makes me salivate now. I told my friend that I want his maid (she made them) to come live with us so that I can have this everyday. Lol. It's damn nice lar! Too bad my friend doesn't know the recipe for this :(

Well besides eating alot of BBQ sotongs for the chalet, I spent the rest of the time during the chalet:

1) Playing too much Guitar Hero (I still suck at it);
2) Eating too much homemade Oreo and strawberry cheesecake (the organiser baked them, they are extremely good too, sigh);
3) Drinking too much Coke Zero; and
4) Sleeping too little!

Okay I'm gonna get ready to go work now. Shall end my post with a picture of myself playing Guitar Hero or rather pretending to be a rock star. Lol.

Been having a busy week preparing for a friend's BBQ on top of work audits and stuff. Just came back home from marinating chicken wings.. my hand and nails turned yellow due to the turmeric in my marination. I have hideous nails now. Ugh.
