Haha, yes this is a very late post indeed. Apologies! Pictures were taken with my LG Viewty, and the very next day my Viewty touchscreen died. Thus the delay til now. (And a little bit of procrastination on my part :p)
I helped out in this event, Nat Geo Citychase Singapore exactly 2 weeks ago. It was a wet wet Saturday! Rained the whole day. Really pitied the contestants running around the whole island in the rain. Now two saturdays on, it's still raining cats and dogs. Now I pity myself 'cause tomorrow I'm helping out in the 2008 Aviva Ironman 70.3 Triathlon Singapore event, and I really really hope it doesn't rain :( Gotta wake up at 0415hrs! Have to reach the venue by 0500hrs before the roads close. Gosh.
Will try to post pictures up if I manage to take any :)
Anyways, back to Citychase, which really is like The Amazing Race on TV. Contestants have to run around the island to complete 10 Chasepoints in record time. At each Chasepoint ya have to complete a challenge.
Okok, don't write so much. Pictures!
Initially I stayed in the car 'cause I was too sissy and wanted to avoid the rain... but I became claustrophobic after like 10 minutes. Lol. So I came out to watch the contestants.
At this Chasepoint, contestants have to pit themselves against each other by playing basketball, football or paddle tennis. Never played paddle tennis before! Looked really fun. Wanted to join in but I was 1)kind of working, 2)and I didn't want to get wet. Hate the feeling of wet shoes and just the thought of it was enough to keep me off the rain.
At this Chasepoint, contestants have to make their own prata, flip it once, and then eat it. It was really fun to watch them. ;p
The next Chasepoint is my favourite one! Contestants have to eat this:
Just like The Amazing Race's Detour, if you refuse to take up this challenge, you can always opt for this instead:
Used to go there when they were still threading eyebrows for $5. Now they have increased it to $7, and although it's still cheap to go there, it's not worth to make the journey down just to get my eyebrows threaded. Too lazy! Now I just shave and trim my own eyebrows. I still prefer threading though. No stray hairs :)
At this Detour, contestants have to get one side of their eyebrows threaded. Which, in my opinion, kinda painful and time-wasting. Besides, you will look weird with only one eyebrow :D While I was there, almost everyone (even girls) took the mealworms challenge. Except for 2 guys who opted for threading instead. If girls go for threading they can always draw their eyebrows. But guys? Lol! They don't even wax or pluck. I seriously think that the mealworms were a better choice for them. The 2 guys were up there for a long time. Hehe.
As I was only covering the central area of Singapore, this is my last Chasepoint that I'm gonna post up.
Contestants have to search for mahjong tiles in the Sungei Road Thieves' Market. This was the most boring Chasepoint for me. 'Cause there was no shelter and I couldn't go across the road to see the action, haha. After a while, it started raining really heavily :(
And I had to hide in the car again.
Guess what car?
Finally had the chance to take a ride in one :) I really like the 3 door Rav 4s. Very cute size and I really like the off road look of it. Too bad, I can't afford it!
Another pic:
If I am not wrong, I will meet the Rav 4 gang again tomorrow for the Aviva Ironman event. Wait, it's not tomorrow. It's already Sunday now. That leaves me with barely 4 hours sleep, and I'm not even sleepy :(
Shall force myself to lie on the bed.
Hope the rain stops!
